Kylie Hamlin, B.S.F.R., Cedarsong Way Certified Teacher

Co-Director of Preschool + Family Engagement, Educator

With nearly 20 years of outdoor education experience and a lifelong passion for the natural world, Kylie Hamlin joined the AFK team in 2019. Raised in Athens, she grew up on forested acreage near a horse stable with rolling fields, a large garden, and a small pig farm. Still a time when it was socially acceptable for children to be outdoors all day without a moment of adult supervision, she and her two siblings spent hours exploring the woods and getting into good mischief when not in school. After completing a BSFR from UGA-Warnell with an emphasis in environmental education in 2007, she gained experience working as a 4-H Extension agent in McDuffie County and Environmental Educator in coastal Georgia. Homesteading and motherhood became Kylie's focus after her first child was born in 2012; raising layer hens, growing fruits and vegetables, preserving food, baking, knitting, sewing clothes, and learning many other self-sufficiency skills. In her downtime, Kylie enjoys spending time with her two children, building her own home in the heart of wooded acres, sourcing wild foods, reading, cuddling her dog and 3 cats, and homesteading.
